Nexus-III-Closeup3Mahon Hall in Ganges is hosting an amazing solo exhibition by local artist Carl Sean McMahon (aka CSM) June 14th-July 11th. Entitled ‘Fractured Landscapes and Wildlife’, the exhibit features a striking collection of pieces that demonstrate McMahon’s signature fusion of household and industrial metals with the natural cedar wood of the Canadian west coast. McMahon is a Salt Spring native, who studied both at the Victoria College of Art and Design, and the University of Victoria. The uniqueness and maturity of the work is made all the more interesting by the fact that McMahon is only in his early 30s, has been at his craft for a little over 3 years, and is one of the friendliest and most humble artists you’re ever likely to meet. His enthusiasm and openness about his work is as much a highlight for clients that I take to his home studio, as the pieces are themselves. We are absolutely thrilled about his exhibit in town, and would encourage any visitors to Salt Spring to take the time to stop by Mahon Hall in Ganges.
